Wallets!

Several friends of mine wanted to learn to make these linen wallets, but since I've never taken notes while making things, I had forgotten how to make them. Duh! So I made another wallet to remind myself back, taking proper notes this time. This one is pretty much the same as my previous wallet, the same fabric with velcro closure on the tab.

Once I had a decent note, I made two more wallets with more variations. I sewed a piece of cotton lace on the green one and change the closure to thin fabric tubes with elastic inside and a vintage button. The wallet with colourful houses also use vintage button and elastics (without fabric casing), and the topstitchings are intentionally wonky. I was inspired by the wonky drawings of the houses.

While I was at it, I also made a little wallet for my Suica (transportation fare card) and all my point cards. Almost every store here has some sort of point cards that gives you discount or bonus. In time, I've managed to acquire quite a bunch of them, crammed into my poor wallet. Now they have their own case, made from IKEA fabric and closed with elastic and a red vintage button. The red button is so pretty!

My friends were afraid of sewing zipper and they thought these wallets were difficult. After the sewing session, each of them have their own handmade wallet, and one is crazily sewing zipper on everything she makes now!

So I'm thinking of turning my notes into a proper tutorial for this blog. Coming soon.
